A Fool
I was described as a fool by someone today
Demeaned, reduced by words they had to say
So described because I choose to believe
Beyond what some others practice to deceive
Did it take my soul to its bottom depth
Did it make me weak as I quietly wept
By what definition did they speak of fool
One that's diminished as a viable life tool
Or is a fool one that awakes upon the morn
Able, willing to trumpet hope's golden horn
Is a fool one who sees beyond criticism
To the wondrous colors within love's prism
Is it a fool who dares to believe in day dreams
As they ignore the haters in opposite schemes
Is a fool one seeing the beauty in their realm
Facing all danger as they guide the helm
Yes, fool was one of the damaging words
No harm befell me as I view these sounds absurd
I'm thankful that as I glance into mirrors I see
The fool reflected back is me, yes, me
