Roanoke
I won't ever call you on the phone
And where you go I won't ever know
You may hate me now and never love me again
But for my mind I won't let those thoughts settle in
Your smiling face and your soft brown hair
Your sparkling eyes and your little nose so fair
Holding hands as we walked the streets of Roanoke
I'll remember us in love and in my heart keep hope
We met by chance, two souls from opposite coasts
Then a December apart, while we desired to see each other most
Finally we reunited on a spontaneous Sunday night
Our first embrace so warm, our first kiss so sweet, and us together so amazingly right
As the cold days of winter settled in, our love grew
And of fate working his evil deeds, I never knew
The warmth of my love couldn't keep us from drifting apart
Our love was buried as the winter storms raged on in your heart
Now you won't answer if I call you on the phone
And where you are I would love to go
You loved me once and could love me again
And in my mind I'll remember us as we were back then
