Don't Rush Me!
I want to be a poet
I want my tales to rhyme
I’d love to pen a book of verse
If I just had the time!
Technology has made it swift
And simple as can be
For we’ve no need to pen a poem
When we can text and key!
It used to take me hours,
To draft a final master;
But thanks to my computer,
I make mistakes much faster!
I don’t need Miriam Webster
Cause Spell Check does it for me!
It nose what I yam trying to say
And pompously ignores me!
I have no need of paper;
No matter how you figure;
Don’t even need my glasses--
Just make the font lots bigger!
I can’t blame awful penmanship
for my writer’s block;
Or losing track of time because
my PC has a clock!
No hours at the library;
No research to be read..
It’s all right here on YouTube,
Or I’ll Google it instead.
So here I sat to write my rhyme;
And sat, and sat, and SAT!
With all the world’s technology
Right there, staring back.
I’d run out of excuses;
And yet you've read my rhyme!
and if by chance you're wondering,
where I found the time..
I left the virtual highway;
I put my my brain in park;
I pulled the little plug out;
and wrote this in the dark.
