Mothering Blues
If it ain’t one thing it’s another,
If it ain’t that girl child,
It’s her brother,
Children fighting like cats and dogs,
I don’t care what age they are… they know how to ask for money,
All the while demanding that I cook and clean for them …as if it’s their right.
Lord, why won’t these kids just let me be?
Always looking to steal my peace and harmony.
That husband of mine ain’t no better,
Debating and confusing himself about life and whatever,
Thinking there is something better out there,
If it’s that wondrous why won’t he just get off his ass and go?
Instead of staying here and making my life miserable.
Lord, why won’t he just let me be?
Always looking to steal my peace and harmony.
Those so called friends always using me as a sounding board,
As if the words that come from my mouth are full of truth and wisdom.
I disperse my wisdom with a disclaimer… you know just in case someone decides to commit a murder.
Lord, why won’t they just let me be?
Always looking to steal my peace and harmony.
I’m so tired of fighting the good fight,
So in my prayer I’m asking for a little rest tonight.
