I'm Not All Here
I used to be very small
Before you came to me
Now I still appear to be small,
As I'm only part of me.
When you fell in love with me
You made me bigger than ever before.
No matter what you take from me
There will always be some more.
Some people think I'm not all here,
And they're right.
I'm only here a little bit.
It's enough for me to survive,
But it is only with you
That the rest of me can thrive.
You said one reason you love me
Is that I think in terms of we
And I don't think just of me
You're almost right.
I do think just of me
But as of three years ago,
The me I think about are we.
You are my soul,
My sense of humor,
My personality.
I know that if I lost
That part you hold
It would be the end of me.
So take care of that heart you hold,
For it used to beat in my chest.
And it will be yours to guard
Till they lay our bones to rest.
Then, though your eyes will be closed,
The abounding wonders you will see,
When forever, one whole person,
Together we will be.
