Please Forgive Me
"I don't ever want to see you
Or talk to you again!"
Came your angry words.
You wrote a letter explaining them,
So I replied with a poem.
You said you never intended to hurt me
When you spoke those words,
And I denied all pain.
"When you already have 100 knives in your back,"
I wrote nonchalantly,
"You don't feel the 101st,
Even when it's twisted in there."
Now you've tried to established contact with me,
And I'm wondering why?
Have you forgotten your harsh words of goodbye?
Not that it's a bad thing,
Mind you.
I haven't forgotten
How I felt you'd done me wrong.
I am a changed man, however.
The depression you said was always around me
Is gone.
But I think the biggest change is this.
I didn't really change this,
But I'm able to admit I was hurt,
And my reaction was just as harsh.
But I've forgiven you,
And I still care for you.
So now I'm on my proverbial knees in cyberspace,
Begging you for forgiveness
For what I said.
But one thing about me hasn't changed.
I told you a long time ago,
I'll love you forever.
Still, that holds true.
