The Old Book
It sat on the table, well read, its cover torn
Having fed many hearts, with their spirits reborn
Many answers for life's journeys found in its pages
Wisdom's counsel and 7 pillars turning some into sages
Some heard its words of truth with a solid faith
Others were deaf, for their ways were of sand, unsafe
Worshipping in the works of their hands above God
They became copies of their own creations, an empty rod
Walking in the book's narrow path can be really hard
For its easy to slip, always needing to be on guard
The enemy loves to tempt you to walk an easier way
To turn away from God's love, the darkness is your pay
Yet in its pages it tells you, "God will forgive"
Just confess where you've gone wrong, in the light you'll live
Resting in His loving arms is all that He desires
Place your cares in His hands, let Him take that which tires
