Grief or Relief?*
As she sits there with a solemn stare,
Her mind millions of miles away.
Looking back on all the years.
This has got to be one...
Of the hardest days.
For her love has passed away.
Yet there's something here that puzzles me.
I can't seem to tell...
Does she want to cry out for her lost love?
Or breath a deep sigh of relief?
From all the years of abuse...
Her dark secrets through the years she did keep.
Grief from all the years of having one true love.
Having the Sun rise and set on them,
From high above.
There was nothing he wouldn't do for her,
She felt the same about him...
Now there she sits all alone,
It was always about both of them.
Or...
Is it a look of Relief from years of pain?
Both physical and emotional...
Always dark clouds and rain.
He would always say, I won't do it again.
While in his hand holding another bottle of gin.
Her going through such agony...
Hoping his heart she'd once again win.
It's got me in a questionable state,
I really can't tell for sure.
What she's really feeling inside...
Through the years, what she truly endured.
In closing, I wish her happiness,
In all that life has to give...
Having to make some decisions,
On how she will choose to live.
Putting her life back together isn't an easy thing to do,
As she sits with the look of Grief or Relief...
I honestly can't tell...can you?
